Capping off the “Expert Talk Series: In the Shadow of the Pandemic - Fast Forward to Industry 4.0” is its fourth session which focused on Global Supply Chains in a Post-Pandemic World. Through the 4-part Expert Talk Series, the Unilab Foundation Inc., through the STEM Leadership Alliance and in partnership with the Makati Business Club, has created enabling environments for access to STEM, towards making it a pillar to sustain our country's economic growth and progress. Ensuring digital delivery of lifelong learning programs, SLA-PH continuously works with government agencies, industry leaders, and the education sector as it highlights STEM's crucial role in addressing current problems and projecting the future.
In this session, Professor Willy Shih of the Harvard Business School laid out the cross-cutting impacts of COVID-19 in different industries and more particularly on the global labor supply. He also discussed the tiering of supply chains and complexity of computer industries and technical systems and further implications of the pandemic.

Professor Shih is a co-author of the book, “Producing Prosperity: Why America Needs a Manufacturing Renaissance,” and has written numerous articles on manufacturing and supply chains in the Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, and elsewhere. Before joining Harvard, he spent 28 years in industry, designing, manufacturing, and selling products around the world.
