The Unilab Foundation, through the STEM Leadership Alliance and in partnership with Makati Business Club, held the first online session of the Expert Talk Series: In the Shadow of the Pandemic - Fast Forward to Industry 4.0 last October 2, 2020 to discuss the latest data and case studies on the Advanced Manufacturing sector amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event was co-launched by DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez and US Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. John C. Law as they highlighted Industry 4.0 as the critical pathway to the future of innovation, putting premium on the role of relevant education and human capital development towards enhancing the skills and knowledge of Filipino youth.
Attended by top executives from the government, industry, and education sectors, the first session focused on Coming Back Stronger: Managing the People Side of COVID-19.
Dr. George Westerman, Senior Lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management and Principal Research Scientist of the Jameel Work Education Lab Workforce Learning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, presented how organizations can adapt to the changes brought about by the pandemic, summarized in four main points:
